Road insecurity: at least 7 people burned in an intercity bus in the Far North

On July 16, a deadly incident occurred on the Maroua-Maga road. According to local sources, a 19-seater intercity passenger bus caught fire not far from Djiddel, about fifty kilometers northeast of Maroua, the largest city in the Far North region.

The SDO of the Diamaré division, who went to the scene of the tragedy, was able to confirm that 9 people died in the bus fire. At least 5 people were also seriously injured and were transported to the nearby Bogo hospital. The victims were buried on site after the tragedy was noted by the SDO Jean Marc Ekoa Mbarga and his staff.
