Signed by the head of the military security division, Col Emile Joël Bamkui, this invitation from the academic goes around social networks.

In a summons dated July 12, 2021 and relayed on social networks, Dr. Fridolin Nke is expected on July 21, 2021 at the Military Security Division (Semil) in Yaoundé. He was summoned there by Colonel Emile Bankoui, head of Semil, for inciting mutiny within the defense and security forces.

It all starts with the fact that, the university professor announced on his Facebook page on Saturday, July 10, 2021, that he would be going live on July 11 at 5 p.m. to talk about the head of the Military Security Division. A day after this publication, an audio message, believed to be the result of a telephone exchange between the university teacher and the head of the Military Security Division, went around the web. In this “violent” telephone exchange, the head of the Military Security Division warns the academic not to give up his plan to make a direct report on him and the army. Except, the university teacher didn’t let that go in reminding his interlocutor that he is a public figure and anyone can talk about him.

Very critical of the governance of Paul Biya and his ministers, the writer and philosopher Fridolin Nke has recently been committing books that carry out the autopsy of the Biya regime. He also offers solutions to get Cameroon out of the rut into which its 88-year-old president, who has led the country for 39 years, has plunged it.

In his letter-writing and / or media outings, Fridolin Nke does not spare the army engaged according to him, in a senseless and useless war in the two regions of the North-West and South-West of the country for nearly five years. In one of his recent outings on his Facebook page, Fridolin Nke asked the military to disassociate themselves from instructions given to them by the hierarchy when they do not agree.

Some lawyers believe that summoning a civilian to military security poses a problem. Me Hyppolite Meli, lawyer at the Cameroon Bar, explains: “The fact that the summons was signed by one of the protagonists of the telephone exchange first of all poses a problem that is relentless. In addition, I do not think that SÉMIL has the prerogatives to interview civilians ”.
