They were released on Wednesday May 18 in Mbonge.

In conditions still difficult to elucidate, 19 employees of the Cameroon Development Corporation (the largest agro-industry in the country based in the South West Region) were released on Wednesday May 18 in Mbonge. They had been kidnapped by separatist militiamen in Idenau on the night of Monday to last Tuesday.

While some security sources claim that the hostages were freed after an operation by the Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR), others claim that these CDC workers were released by their kidnappers. These would be the fighters of the warlord “Field Marshall 10 Kobo”.

A few days ago, these fighters freed 9 employees working on the asphalting site of a road in this region. However, several people remain prisoners of the separatists. This is the case of Senator Régina Mundi, regional officials of public administration, or even the president of the chamber of traditional chiefs of the North-West.
