“In a statement sent to DAILY POST on Tuesday, entitled: ‘BNL drops Cameroon’s national flag in the Bakassi peninsula,’ BNL chief operating officer Henry Edet revealed to reporters on Monday. Edet said: “We understood that the action was carried out last night by militias loyal to the group, following threats from BNL to remove the billboards bearing the Republic of Cameroon, this comes a day after the visit. BNL National Chief Princewill Chimezie Richards, ”said Henry Edet.

He also revealed that it was not possible to hoist the flag of Biafra due to sporadic fire by Cameroonian forces in the region last night. According to him, the group will not turn a blind eye to the situation.

Note that BNL intervened when the Nigerian navy announced a few days ago its intention to establish two operational bases at Ikang and Dayspring Island in Bakassi. This decision is said to be due to growing insecurity in the region.
