An awareness campaign on the importance of the registration of civil status events and on the legal framework as well as the supplementary judgment procedures, was held on Saturday June 18, 2022 at the 3rd degree chiefdom of Souari, in the district of Garoua 1st.
This workshop which brought together around the traditional chief, the notables and the dynamic women of this popular district is an initiative of the Program for the Improvement of the Civil Status System in Cameroon for Active Citizenship, with the contribution of the Regional agency of National Office of Civil Status for the North.
Nowadays, civil status faces several problems, including the ignorance of the population on the importance of the registration of civil status facts, ignorance of the texts and the negligence of parents, among others. Hence the orientation of the objectives of this campaign on the sharing of rights related to the birth certificate in order to bring a large number of people to declare the certificates within the deadlines. These are specifically birth, marriage and death certificates.
