The People United for Social Renovation (PURS) is already preparing for the presidential election scheduled for October 2025, according to Serge Espoir Matomba, the first secretary of this opposition political group.

While he participated last week in a remote talk on the Zoom platform, he announced that the PURS has renewed its basic structures and is now waiting to nominate its candidate. The name of the latter will be known at the congress announced next year. It emerges from this exit from Serge Espoir Matomba that the PURS does not intend to integrate one of the opposition coalitions being prepared for 2025. The latter does not hide the fact that he is watching these coalitions take shape with one eye critical.

“When it comes to elections, coalitions aim to present candidacies and a common program to govern a country, region or administrative entity. Unfortunately in our country, we most often talk about a coalition without ideological prerequisites, or even without a common project to govern the country. It is most often a coalition of men instead of a coalition on a project for the country or for a just cause,” declares Serge Espoir Matomba in a video in which he calls for the nationalization of the Eneo company.

All that remains to be seen is whether, once again, the PURS will present the candidacy of Serge Espoir Matomba, unsuccessful candidate in the last presidential election, that of October 2018. He finished eighth and penultimate with a score of 0.56% of the votes cast.
