The challenge for the State of Cameroon is to have a database for all properties in the State of Cameroon.

170 public administration staff recently received training to equip them to use the Gepsoft application. This training was held within the framework of public finance reform, accounting reform and more specifically stock accounting.

The Cameroon Tribune of Tuesday, October 11 explains that Gepsoft is an application that brings inventory management into modernity. Within the framework of the reform of public finances in general and stock accounting in particular, automation is an important theme, particularly for stock accounting.

It has not always been an easy task for retail accountants. But with the implementation of this information system, the challenge is to have a single database for State resources, explains Désiré Kongo Elanga, director of standardization and material accounting (Dncm) at the Ministry of Finance (Minfi).

Public stores accounting is made up of all the rules of a legislative, regulatory nature or resulting from usage concerning the operations of acquisition, handling and disposal of tangible movable and immovable property, durable and consumable, in service, in supply or in a standby position, belonging or entrusted to the State, public establishments and public authorities.

The workshop, held from 5 to 8 October, enabled participants to better track material accounts in an information system that will be integrated and shared during the training, which ended in Yaoundé on 8 october. The training was also followed by an evaluation, at the end of which the laureates received a training certificate.

Rachele Pooch, Dncm focal point for the monitoring and development of the Gepsoft application explained that “we are opening access to users so that they can use the application. It may be used throughout the territory and wherever there are Cameroonian assets”.
