Cameroon: The sub-Divisional Officer of Yaoundé II bans the “Sit-in” of Denis Émilien Atangana

The political party Front des Démocrates Camerounais (FDC), political formation released a press release on November 9, 2021 in which it intends to organize a large Sit-in at the Palais des Congrès to protest against the “illegal” maintenance of DGs and DGs – To certain administrative public establishments.

The FDC, by choosing the Palais des Congrès as the venue for this sit-in, intends to take advantage of the opening of the parliamentary session to challenge the deputies and senators on the situation. “Our position is that parliamentarian and senators cannot examine and vote on the 2022 budget when a good part of this budget will be managed by 120 outlaws“, explains Dénis Emilien Atangana.

24 hours later, the sub-Divisional Officer of Yaoundé II took a decision to ban the demonstration. “Is and remains prohibited, as of the date of signature of this decision, the public demonstration projected on November 11, 2021 at 11 am by Front des Démocrates Camerounais (FDC)”, indicates the press release signed on Wednesday November 10, 2021 by Daouda Ousmanou, Civil Administrator. The reason for the ban is: inclinations to disturb order and public tranquility.

Recall that on September 7, 2021, the Constitutional Council had rejected the request of Denis Émilien Atangana, relating to the longevity of certain Directors General and their deputies of public and parastatal enterprises. The upper chamber had issued as a reason, “quality defect”.
