Road maintenance in Cameroon

Between 2018 and 2025, the Ministry of Public Works (MINTP) transferred a total of 29 billion CFA francs to the municipalities of the eight divisions of the Western Region.

These funds come from the Road Fund and the MINTP’s Public Investment Budget (PIB). They are used to finance maintenance work on the region’s municipal roads. In detail, the municipality of Bafoussam III, in the Mifi division, received the largest allocation with 642 million CFA francs. This was followed by the municipality of Banka in the Haut-Nkam division with 485.9 million CFA francs. During the same eight-year period, the municipalities of Dschang, Fongo-Tongo, and Fokoué, in the Menoua division, received 233.4 million CFA francs, 318.9 million CFA francs, and 259.4 million CFA francs, respectively.

The smallest allocation was allocated to the municipality of Njimoun de Koutaba in the Noun division, with an amount of 136.4 million CFA francs. The resources thus transferred to the municipalities not only contribute to the implementation of the decentralization process but also empower municipal executives in the execution of infrastructure projects.
