This note comes following several malicious acts committed by certain stakeholders in the motorcycle transport sector in the city of Douala. Even if some are not unmasked, the fact remains that the victims of these attacks are sometimes the passengers on board the motorcycles trapped by their driver.

To counteract this scourge, Dr. Roger MBASSA NDINE, the mayor of the city of Douala, opened communal identification centers in five districts of the city of Douala. Objective: to give each driver the opportunity to identify themselves. Thus, the mayor of the city gives two months to motorcycle drivers to be registered and display the new vest put in place by the urban community of Douala. The two months end on September 15, 2024 and any driver who has not complied will no longer have the right to circulate in the city of Douala. The press release bearing this decision was signed on July 3, 2024 by the mayor of the city.

The mayor of the city informs that this operation is free and that the documents to be provided are – a copy of the National Identity Card – a valid category “A” driving license and the motorcycle registration document. A breath of fresh air for the inhabitants of Douala who hope to see this sector cleaned up.
