The Minister of Secondary Education criticizes the administrative authority for having acted without consultation.

In two decrees signed on February 24, 2021 and July 7, 2021, Quetong Anderson Kongeh, the SDO of the Ngoketunjia division, whose capital is Ndop in the North-West region, suspends the salaries of teachers who have been absent from their workstations for since a certain number of months. This suspension of salaries, which was obviously decided without the involvement of the Minister of Secondary Education (Minesec), is not appreciated by the latter.

In a press release published on 26 January 202, Pauline Nalova Lyonga dissociates herself from the decisions of the administrative authority, which he accuses of having acted alone. Minesec reassures its Ngoketunjia teaching staff that investigations are underway to shed light on these decisions.

Since the beginning of the Anglophone crisis in 2016, the school has been particularly attacked by separatists who oppose education. As a result, students and teachers are prime targets for separatists who kidnap them and take the lives of some of them.

As a result, several teachers have deserted their jobs because of insecurity. But the Minister of Secondary Education and the administrative authorities regularly ask them to resume service, at the risk of suspending their salaries.
