They were also fined 127 euros each and damages and interest in solidarity 4,500 euros.

The activists of the Anti-Sardinards Brigade (BAS) were finally fixed on their fate at the end of the hearing held this Monday, July 5, 2021 at the Paris Court, relating to the case of the “Rampage of the Embassy of Cameroon in Paris ”. French justice has been rather lenient with regard to Abdoulaye Thiam, alias Calibri Calibro, and Cie, who had been sued by the Cameroonian Embassy in Paris.

The master of the BAS received a 3-months suspended prison sentence for this purpose, informs a press release made public by the BAS. It is the same for the named Robert Wanto known as “General Wanto“. Mr. Nelson Azonsop Tchetchago is getting off with 4 months. We also learn that these various prison sentences are not included in the criminal records of the three activists, who are each ordered to pay a financial fine of 127 euros, in addition to joint damages of 4,500 euros; or 1500 euros (1 million Fcfa) per person.

The BAS perceives this verdict rather as a victory as it is true that the accused persons were not sentenced to custodial sentences as desired by the civil party. “A small victory for the Cameroonian resistance in France given that the State of Cameroon was unsuccessful on all the demands of their lawyers,” Calibri Calibro reacted after the hearing.

Recall that on January 26, 2019, BAS activists claiming to be militant civil society had ransacked the Cameroonian Embassy in Paris, protesting against what they considered to be “the stolen victory of Maurice Kamto” at the presidential election of October 7, 2018. The BAS has always displayed its hostility to the Yaoundé regime, while showing its support for the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC).
