It runs from December 23, 2021 to January 2, 2022 and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The administrative authority specifies that this measure aims to limit attacks by armed men.

In a press release made public on Thursday, December 23, 2021, the Senior Divisional Officer of the Manyu Division, southwest region, informs the population that a curfew is in place throughout the territory until January 2, 2022. The curfew starts from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The administrative authority says he wants to limit attacks by separatists during this holiday season. The state official in the locality warns violators of this rule who would risk prosecution.

It must be said that separatist fighters are already using the tactics of attacks using improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Their favorite targets: the vehicles of soldiers at the front.

When they succeed in overcoming the men in uniform, the separatists take military equipment, namely uniforms, weapons and other berets. To counter this new way of attacking, Mindef had the military and police trained in neutralizing IEDs.

The curfew therefore falls within the context of the end of the year celebrations marked by numerous displacements of populations without forgetting the crowds in markets, places of worship and drinking establishments.
