The agreement was signed on September 16, 2021 in Yaoundé, Cameroon’s political capital.

Cameroon and the United Nations (UN) signed the cooperation framework plan for the implementation of national priorities and the contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the period 2022-2026, on the 16th September 2021 in Yaoundé. This framework plan, prepared jointly by the UN and the government, is inspired by Vision 2035 and the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (SND30), reference frameworks for State action aimed at making of Cameroon an emerging country.

The agencies, funds and programs of the United Nations system reiterate their support for Cameroon’s national development priorities. With the start of the decade of action, the cooperation framework plan comes at a time of transformation and focuses on a set of essential areas to achieve Cameroon’s national vision ”, underlines Matthias Z. Naab, the resident coordinator of United Nations.

The provisional envelope stands at more than 642 billion FCFA, of which 33.5% has already been mobilized through the ordinary resources of the United Nations system. The rest is to be mobilized from the government and donors, “said Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development (Minepat), Alamine Ousmane Mey. He announced without advancing a date the holding of a round table of donors to begin the implementation of the strategy to mobilize the necessary resources.

It should be remembered that the framework cooperation plan is part of the perspective of sustainable development: “While consolidating the valuable achievements, our partnership is part of the sustainable improvement of the competitiveness of the Cameroonian economy, the determined fight against vulnerabilities, precariousness and chronic poverty as well as the strengthening of resilience in the face of various shocks ”, noted the Minepat.

The member of the government noted that this partnership “revolve around emergency humanitarian response, the ideal of the demographic dividend, the early recovery of weakened economic and social fabric to put the affected areas and the populations concerned back on the road, development path. It is obviously for us to promote strong, sustainable and inclusive growth, including in humanitarian situations, “added the member of the government.
